Bonneville County, Idaho Inmate Search

Bonneville County inmate search refers to the process of determining whether an individual has been arrested and where they are being held within the county. The primary detention facility in the area is the Bonneville County Jail, which serves as the main booking and holding center for individuals arrested throughout the county.

The jail is operated by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, which operates the county’s sole adult detention facility and maintains a publicly accessible online inmate roster that operates approximately once every one hour. The roster provides basic custody information such as the inmate’s name, booking photograph, inmate number, and housing location within the jail.

If an individual has already been convicted and transferred to a state correctional facility, the Idaho Department of Corrections ( IDOC) maintains a separate offender search. Likewise, individuals facing federal charges may be located through the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator.

Bonneville County does not operate a federal prison within its boundaries. Individuals arrested in the Idaho Falls area on federal charges may be transferred to federal facilities elsewhere in Idaho or neighboring states, depending on the case.

The two most populated cities in Bonneville County are Idaho Falls, the county seat, and Ammon, immediately to the east. Idaho Falls is served by the Idaho Falls Police Department,t which books arrestees into the Bonneville County Jail. Ammon falls under the Sheriff’s Office patrol jurisdiction, so residents arrested there are also booked directly into the county jail system.

How to Find an Inmate in Bonneville County Jail

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office serves as the official custodian of inmate records. While individuals may visit or call the jail directly, the easiest way to check custody status is through the online inmate roster available on the sheriff’s office website.

The roster reflects the current jail population at the time of the most recent update. If a search does not return results, the individual may have been recently booked and not yet listed, or they may have already been released. In those cases, contacting the Bonneville County Jail directly is the best option.

How to Use the Bonneville County Jail Roster

Bonneville County provides a publicly accessible jail roster through the sheriff’s office website. The roster is designed to help individuals quickly locate detainees and confirm whether someone is currently in custody.

Below is a step-by-step guide to using the roster.

  • Visit the official Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office website
  • Click Bonneville County Jail in the main navigation section, then select the Inmate List.
  • The roster loads show all current detainees. Each entry displays the inmate’s photographs, inmate’s number, full name, and housing location within the facility.
  • Scroll through the list to find the individual. The roster is not filterable by name on this page.

Once the individual is located on the roster, the inmate identification number listed beside their name should be noted. This number serves several important purposes within the jail system. It is typically required when sending mail to an inmate, depositing money into their account, or scheduling visits through the facility’s visitation system.

If the individual does not appear on the roster, contacting the jail directly by phone is the fastest way to confirm whether the person is currently in custody.

In addition to the roster, the sheriff’s office also supports the Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE) service. It’s a free notification system that allows individuals to receive automatic alerts when an inmate’s custody status changes. Users can register through the sheriff’s office website or through the national VINE service website.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Bonneville County Jail?

Family and friends often deposit money into an inmate’s account so the detainee can purchase basic items during their stay. Inmates use these funds to buy commissary items such as hygiene products, snack foods, writing materials, and other approved goods.

Inmates may also use the funds from their accounts to cover certain medical or dental co-payments, which are typically charged when inmates receive medical care in custody.

Bonneville County Jail provides two main ways to deposit funds in an inmate’s account. They include:

In-Person Deposit

Visitors can deposit funds in person at the jail lobby using a TouchPay Kiosk. To use the kiosk,

  • Individuals must locate the inmate by name or identification number
  • Select a deposit amount and insert payment using cash, credit, or debit cards.
  • Once that is done, funds deposited are usually available in the inmate’s account immediately.

Online Deposits

Deposits can also be made online through the AccessCorrections system. To use this service;

  • Visit accesscorrections.com or call (866) 345-1884. Create an account or log in.
  • Select Idaho, then Bonneville County Jail. Search for the inmate’s name
  • Deposit using Mastercard or Visa. Transaction fees apply and vary by method.

For individuals who do not have funds available, the jail provides basic support. Inmates who have had no money in their account for at least thirty(30) days are considered indigent. These inmates receive basic hygiene supplies and a limited number of stamped envelopes at no cost.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

Bonneville County has one adult detention facility, so a single roster covers virtually everyone in local custody. The Work Release/Work Detail program does not generate a separate list. Participants remain in the system and appear on the main jail roster.

If an individual has already been convicted and transferred to a state correctional facility, the Idaho Department of Corrections ( IDOC) maintains a separate offender search. Whilst individuals facing federal charges may be located through the Federal Bureau of Prisons Inmate Locator. Juveniles adjudicated through the court system are handled by the Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections.
